I am an emerging artist who specializes in encaustic and manuscript painting. I received my BA in Studio Art and MA in Art History from the University of Denver (DU), where I studied encaustic art with Deborah Howard. I have had an opportunity to TA an encaustic course at DU and teach dozens of encaustic workshops around New Mexico. I am also one of 25 artists accepted to Albuquerque’s 2025 Artist INC cohort and will be teaching with the University of New Mexico’s (UNM’s) Continuing Education this year. My work has shown in over 10 juried shows throughout the state, some at New Mexico Art League, Ghostwolf Gallery, and Manzano Mountain Art Council, to name a few. My art explores themes of art history and compassion, seeking to understand current events and to empower through artmaking.

My creative process is informed by my love for art history and by my emotional response to current events. Art history attracts me to the medium and style, while current events influence the subject. For me, painting is a safe space to meditate on my emotions surrounding current events and then to act upon them through art; thus, art-making is an act of empowerment. As such, I am drawn to the medium of encaustic and a manuscript style. Both allow me to connect to the past, while creating works that relate to the present, and the kinder future I imagine.

I truly believe that art has the power to change the world – even a pebble can cause a lake to overflow. As such, I hope my art delights the eyes and inspires love for all.
